5K Oliva

BF enjoys a good stogie after a well run race. We ran the Lake Monona 5K, which was our first race of the year and in many months. Purchased four cigars from Knuckleheads on State St. and enjoyed two of ’em on the porch. See also Aruban Weather. -ST

About the Smoke
Date: 2021/05/01
Rating (out of 5):4.25
Notes:

(As dictated by BF, transcribed by ST) Waffley, flakey (LOL, “layered” is perhaps a more appealing and understandable adjective), buttery in taste and feel.

Comments:

(As dictated by BF, transcribed by ST) Not as “good as” the Maduro version; see Oliva Serie V Maduro. To take a metaphor from the beer world, this cigar is like a 1X IPA to the Maduro’s 2X IPA. As the cigar smokes down, notes of leather and wood are apparent. This is a “smoke it to a nub” type of cigar.

Descriptions of this cigar like to note that the figurado version of it won 2014’s #1 Cigar of the Year award. Coffee flavors are also commonly cited. We did not detect coffee so much… perhaps coffee cake? It’s light if present.
